Welcome! I’m Dr. Laura Narry, and I’m passionate about sustainable living and connecting with the natural world through homesteading. My journey into self-sufficiency began with a deep appreciation for the earth and a desire to create a more resilient and harmonious way of life.My website is a reflection of this journey, where I share my experiences and insights in various areas of homesteading. You’ll find a strong focus on vermicomposting, transforming organic waste into rich, nutrient-dense soil amendments with the help of my incredible worm allies. This practice not only enriches my garden but also minimizes waste and promotes a circular ecosystem right in my backyard.Central to my homestead are my rabbitry and Muscovy ducks. My rabbits are a cornerstone of my sustainable practices, providing a source of lean protein, valuable fertilizer for my gardens, and even material for crafting. My Muscovy ducks are not only delightful companions but also excellent foragers, pest control specialists, and contributors to the fertility of my land. And, of course, no homestead is complete without a thriving garden! My raised bed gardening system allows me to cultivate a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs efficiently and productively, ensuring fresh, wholesome food for my family. Raised beds help me manage soil quality, conserve water, and extend my growing season.Through this platform, I aim to inspire and equip others to embrace their own homesteading aspirations, whether on a large farm or a small urban plot. Join me as I explore the rewarding path of self-sufficiency, ecological stewardship, and a life deeply rooted in nature.
